Software Engineer II - Backend focused (Viator) at Tripadvisor

This role is open to candidates based within a commutable distance of Lisbon, Saldanha, with flexibility in where and how work gets done.
About the team and role
The Viator Experiences Engineering team is distributed across Europe and is responsible for viator.com, the Viator mobile apps, and their supporting infrastructure. We run systems that help operators build their businesses and enable third parties to utilise our inventory. You will join as a backend-focused Software Engineer II with occasional frontend work, working closely with product managers and designers throughout the full software lifecycle.
Our engineers release code to production every few days in a daily release cycle. The stack includes Java, React, Type Script, Graph QL, Kubernetes, SQL and No SQL databases, and AWS. Prior experience with every listed technology is not required, but you should be hungry to learn and able to contribute with a statically typed, object-oriented language such as Java, C# or C++.
Responsibilities
Contribute to backend-focused development with some frontend projects from time to time.
Work with product managers and designers across the full software lifecycle: design, code, test, deploy, and iterate.
Support and improve services for viator.com, the mobile apps, and related infrastructure.
Collaborate in an environment with a fast release cadence and emphasis on getting features into production safely.
Qualifications
Experience with a statically typed, object-oriented language such as Java, C# or C++.
Willingness to learn frontend technologies on the job; not required to be an expert at frontend from the start.
Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
