Continuum is currently looking to recruit a suitable candidate for the position of an M&A Deal Origination Associates. This person will oversee our deal sourcing process in the Fintech space and is therefore really one our most important contributor positions. This position versatile, exciting, a high-profile position, reporting directly to the CIO and CEO of Continuum.
Who is Continuum?
Continuum is a global long-term investor and acquirer of growing software businesses. We acquire small to medium B2 B software companies with defensible market positions. We invest globally and across a wide growth spectrum and typically take a controlling stake in the business or acquire the business outright. We have offices all over the US but we’re very comfortable working virtually. This position can be based anywhere in the world. Our work style is results oriented, pragmatic and rational. We also prefer simple over complex.
Job Description
This position will take ownership of all global deal origination activities in the Fintech space working alongside our business leaders throughout the full sourcing to acquisition process
This position is primarily a prospecting role. It’s a challenging role because it isn’t entirely about sending emails day in day out, but you will also have to understand how software businesses function and differentiate between various software markets. You also must be able to make CEOs trust you by engaging them meaningfully. That stretch of requirements, between the daily email and data discipline on the one hand and the ability to intellectually process software markets engage CEOs at a high level on the other hand is what makes this position a challenge (…and exciting).
More specifically, the goal in this role is to source attractive companies to acquire and keep nurturing the relationship so that the business owner will work with you when the time has come for them to sell.

Conduct industry research and competitive analyses in various enterprise software markets (happens about once a month for 2-3 days).
Set up drip campaigns by navigating and refining data and handling CRM drip campaigns. (around once a week).
Develop a lead funnel by systematically reaching out to prospects through automated drip campaigns and phone calls (email outreaches are daily. Being disciplined here on a daily basis is the critical piece).
Conduct interviews with CEOs to evaluation investment viability (happens daily as well).
Qualify prospects for investment purposes.
Develop preliminary evaluation models in excel based our approach and methods (around 1-2 per week)
Assist in the negotiation and due diligence process (at any given time a few running in parallel)
Skills & Requirements:

Academic degrees don’t carry all too much weight with us, but they make statements about your work ethics.
You should have a basic understanding of the enterprise software market. You should understand the differences between various vertical markets.
You need to understand excel well. You should be able to compare data sets across different tables, eliminate duplicates, extract specific words from a cell. You should be comfortable with using formula such as XLOOKUP, LEFT, SEARCH, FIND, etc…
You should have a good profile on Linkedin and know your way around there.
You should have confidence working with CRM tools and be able to configure them. You should understand A/B testing and be able to learn how to track results.
Most and foremost, you need to be able to pace yourself to keep trying new approaches, changing up your email templates and to keep sending a good amount of emails out every day.
Your background ideally is in corporate finance or in software sales, but we’re open to look at candidates with other backgrounds.
