Vice President / Staff, Platform Infrastructure Architecture – Fully Remote (Lisbon Area, Portugal)

Join a global financial technology company that powers sophisticated investment platforms used by clients around the world. We are scaling our Platform Infrastructure team , responsible for the core systems that make our technology stack secure, scalable, and reliable. This is a hands-on senior architect role where you will shape platform standards, validate designs, and ensure consistency across Kubernetes platforms, cloud networking, edge services, and API patterns.

What you’ll do:
Evolve platform architecture standards across core infrastructure domains
Design and validate Kubernetes platform architecture, including cluster lifecycle, autoscaling, node provisioning, and OS standards (EKS, Karpenter, Bottlerocket)
Define cloud networking patterns: VPC design, routing, ingress/egress, TGW design, and private connectivity
Own edge and traffic management strategies, including CDN, DNS, and TLS (Akamai, Cloudflare)
Standardize API Gateway and north-south access patterns for secure service exposure
Establish multi-account and multi-cluster architecture standards for scale and operational clarity
Produce reference architectures, design documents, and architectural guardrails
Review proposed platform designs and validate decisions via proof-of-concept projects

Qualifications:
8+ years in platform, cloud, or infrastructure engineering roles with architectural responsibility
Hands-on experience designing and operating Kubernetes platforms in production
Deep knowledge of AWS infrastructure, networking, security primitives, and managed services
Experience designing cloud networking and edge architectures, including traffic management
Ability to translate complex technical requirements into clear standards and reference architectures
Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences
Comfortable as a senior individual contributor with influence across multiple teams
AWS / Kubernetes certifications are a plus
