Work Location Details
Working in Madeira in a shared office space, remote in Portugal, or remote in a Portuguese time zone‑friendly location

Job Summary
The BI Engineer will play a key role in enabling data‑driven decision‑making across Allia Health Group. This role focuses on transforming raw data into trusted, well‑modelled analytics datasets and delivering high‑quality dashboards and reports for business stakeholders. Working closely with Product, Operations, Finance, and Leadership teams, the BI Engineer will translate business questions into clear data models, metrics, and visualizations using modern BI and analytics tools.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain analytics data models using dbt
Define, document, and standardise business metrics and KPIs
Partner closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into analytics solutions
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and trust across dashboards and reports
Collaborate with Data Engineers to ensure source data is reliable and analytics‑ready
Perform data validation, testing, and monitoring within the analytics layer
Maintain clear documentation for data models, metrics, and dashboards
Continuously improve dashboard usability, performance, and self‑service capabilities
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experience in BI engineering, analytics engineering, or a similar role
Strong SQL skills and experience working with robust analytical data models
Hands‑on experience with dbt or similar data transformation tools
Experience building dashboards and reports using BI tools (Looker, Tableau, or equivalent)
Solid understanding of data modelling concepts (star schema, fact‑dimension models)
Experience working directly with non‑technical stakeholders
Strong attention to detail and data quality
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Looker and Look ML
Familiarity with cloud data warehouses (Big Query preferred; AWS/Azure acceptable)
Experience supporting executive‑level reporting and operational dashboards
Exposure to analytics best practices such as metric layers and semantic models
Interest in analytics enablement, self‑service BI, and data literacy
